Director: Owen M. Carey Jones

BIOGRAPHY

Owen is a former banking professional with a wide range of experience at all levels extending over more than 25 years. Prior to commencing a two year MA in Screenwriting (Fiction) at the Northern Film School in Leeds, he ran his own company publishing specialist magazines for the UK retail banking market and he remains an acknowledged expert in his field.

On completion of his course at the Northern Film School in 2000, Owen established Carey Films Ltd with the express intention of making a career as a maker of feature films.

On graduating from film school, Owen wrote, produced and directed his first feature film, called BABY BLUES, which has now been seen by estimated audiences of more than 30 million people in countries on four continents including China and the USA and can be purchased from any on-line DVD store and from most high street branches of HMV. In addition his short film THE NEXT VICTIM, which was produced in 2003, has been signed by a distributor for worldwide distribution as part of a series of short film compilations being produced for network television in the USA and elsewhere.

In 2004, owen wrote. produced and directed his second feature film, A MIND OF HER OWN, which screened in the Marche du film at Cannes in 2005 and was subsequently invited to screen at the London UK Film Focus a month later. This film, which has received a coveted CRYSTAL HEART AWARD from the Heartland Film Festival and two angel awards from the Monaco International Film Festival, is currently being promoted to film buyers around the world and is expected to be released to cinemas in the UK in the spring of 2006.

In 2004, as a result of his work as a film producer and director, Owen was elected to membership of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA).
